Don’t let them breed
Stagnant water is a great place for adult mosquitoes to lay eggs. Still or slow moving water, even moist soil, are their favorite spots to lay eggs and will attract them instantly. Pools, tubs, even a pottery wall with unclean water will breed mosquitoes. Ensure that your home is dry and free of dirt. Wipe away water, and make sure it doesn’t become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
- Keep sewers clean
To keep these blood hungry monsters away from your property, ensure the sewers are clean and debris-free. There shouldn’t be any puddles around your gutters. The water should drain down without any hurdles. If you find the drain pipe doesn’t reach the gutter, add an extension pipe to channel the sewage water.
- Chlorinate your pool

- Clear puddles of water

Ponds in your backyard should be kept clean and aerated, or else they become an ideal place for mosquitoes to lay eggs. If the water is not flowing in the pond, you can fill it with fish to keep mosquitoes away.
Contain Adult Mosquitoes
Despite all your efforts to eliminate a mosquito habitat, some may still prevail. You need to use effective repellents and barriers. You can also safeguard your home by making sure your window and door screens have a thick mesh without any gaps at the edges. Treat your clothing with a permethrin-based product – this product primarily drives away mosquitoes and using it in sunshades and apparel can keep them away until the next few washes.
